Tarba Vitalia Collection
Donatello
A collection that has isolated the most refined and the most representative characteristics of local production intended for use in the homes of the bourgeoisie. Italian furniture of the Nineteenth Century linked closely to the radical historical changes that culminated in the unification of the Veneto with Italy.
The century began with the Empire style implemented in the Veneto region by craftsmen of a certain class and by learned and well-to-do purchasers. Italy had its very own, distinctive, Empire style, recognisable in the stylistic and technical traits well consolidated in time. This particular style combines elegance, functionality and comfort, featuring at first the characteristics of the Empire style, and then curving the surfaces, hinting at Rococo lines and adding Renaissance style decorations.
